Anti-wrinkle injections

Anti-wrinkle injections use small amounts of botulinum toxin to soften lines & balance muscle function in the face & neck. The injections work by temporarily blocking nerve signals & relaxing the target muscles. This can result in smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Areas commonly treated with botulinum toxin include forehead lines, frown lines & eye wrinkles. Botulinum toxin is also an effective way to treat excessive underarm sweating.

Most people start to notice results after about 4 days. For some people, this takes longer. The full effect is usually seen at 2 weeks.

On average, botulinum toxin lasts 3 to 4 months. The effect gradually wears off, so it is normal for some movement to return around 6 to 8 weeks after treatment. To achieve optimum results, it is advised to combine with medical-grade skincare & to maintain regular appointments.

Areas that can be treated

Upper face

  • Forehead lines are caused by repetitive facial expressions, including frowning or raising your eyebrows, & become more apparent with age.

Botulinum toxin is extremely effective at softening &, in some cases, completely erasing these lines.

It works best before the lines become deep.

  • Frown lines are the vertical creases that appear between the eyebrows, sometimes giving an angry look.

This is a very effective area in which to use botulinum toxin injections.

  • Wrinkles around the eyes, sometimes referred to as crow’s feet, can appear from your 20s.

Botulinum toxin is the most effective treatment for this area & works best before the wrinkles become deep.

  • Sometimes called a ‘chemical brow lift’ this involves botulinum injections in a careful combination of areas on the upper face to open up the eye area.

  • Bunny lines are the creases that appear when the nose crinkles up.

They are caused by repeated facial expressions & occasionally appear as a result of frequent anti-wrinkle injections to forehead lines or eye wrinkles.

Botulinum toxin is the most effective treatment to reduce their appearance.

Lower face/ other

  • A gummy smile is where a person's upper gums are overly visible when they smile.

Botulinum toxin injections can reduce a gummy smile by weakening the muscle that controls movement of the upper lip.

  • A dimpled chin can occur with age, due to overactivity of the muscles in the chin.

Botulinum toxin injections are a very effective way of relaxing these muscles.

  • The masseter muscles are muscles on the sides of your face responsible for all the movements related to chewing food.

Some people genetically have very strong masseter muscles which can result in a square appearance of the jawline.

Botulinum injections into these muscles can slim the jawline & lower part of the face.

It can take 4 to 6 weeks to see an effect from this treatment.

  • A Nefertiti neck lift specifically targets the bands that appear on the neck as a result of repeated activity of the platysma muscle.

The use of botulinum toxin injections here can smooth & relax these bands as well as increase jawline definition & reduce the appearance of jowls.

  • Botulinum injections are also a very effective treatment for excessive sweating, including in the underarms.
